where are the biginners headed today?

Kenny suggests PV? Anyone headed there? Is Strawberry snow deep? I seem to struggle with the deep snow, and end up not keeping the kite in the air much. I guess I need easier conditions. PC UDOT might be good but it sounds like it's getting crowded, which scares the heck out of me. Any suggestions, for what's my best bet, for easy conditions today, would be appreciated. Anyone been to Rush or Evanston recently? Thanks

This report is probably too late to do you any good today, but for what it's worth, I had a session at Chicken Creek East yesterday, and the snow was no problem - about 6" of light powder over a fairly firm base.

The snow is about 6 feet at some area in Strawberry River!

Jim, good to hear from you. I was wondering if you were getting out, and shredding the snow. We ended up, driving up to Pineview to check out the riding area, and see what conditions looked like. There was no wind, but the conditions looked good. I guess we should have headed to Strawberry, but when I looked early, it looked very light, so I was not sure wheather to head there or not. Glad you got some rides, what size kite did you put up? thanks SR

Pineview can set up in a way that you can not tell if there is any wind from the road.
On the easterlies on the high pressure days, you should always get there very early.'
and walk down to the lake to see if there is wind,
closer to the dam is always best wind, with these conditions.
Long drive for you, always check the power plant meter in weber canyon first.

Hey Marty, thanks for the tips. We knew that it had pretty weak potential, when we went, but wanted to check it out anyway, and had plans to visit friends in Liberty, and later with my sis who lives in Hooper. Looks like we should have headed to Strawberry, but it looked weak too. One question though, where to park? I'm guessing right after crossing the damn, heading north. There were a couple of card parked there, but it was too small to safely park our van there. But it looked like a good place for us to try kiting, so some day.

We would park across the road from the dam keepers house.
There can be lots of fisherman parked there sometimes.
Kind of a trail down to the ice.
