Local Kite Repair?

Postby Craig Denton » Sun Mar 15, 2009 9:02 pm

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if there is a local shop that can repair kites. I read about the guy who repairs the windsurf sails, but not sure if he can repair a kite. In the past I have used Airtime kite in Hood River before but found them to be pretty expensive and the cost of shipping is high as well.

I crashed my 14M Liquid Force Havoc on a stick up at Powder Mountain on Saturday and ripped one of the panels just to the side of the center vane. The bladders are fine, I just need to have the material repaired.

Thanks,

Craig

Craig and I have already spoken via PM (since my IP at home was blacklisted last night) but for the benefit of everyone else......

I would like to help with local kite repair. I have fixed kites for some local riders earlier this year and late last year as well as a handful of other kites that have passed by my door. If it's a leading edge issue then I would have to look at it and decide if it's up my ally or if I would recommend you send it off to Oregon or Texas, or something. I did fix a LE last year that came out really well. I will post the pics for your benefit (they are on my home computer or I would do it now). I will stand behind my work and won't accept the work if I don't think I can do a good job at it. I have the proper supplies and tools to do the work although I don't have a stock of colored fabric. So if we needed something other than black or white for the repair I would have to order it. I am not inclined to take on work on foils right now, I know that Cloud 9 does some of that. I am also experienced at bladder repair as well.

So if you have an "injury" and want to give me a shot for a cheaper alternative to sending it off to some other state then give me a call or send a PM.

Cloud 9 did an amazing job on a 3ft leading edge repair for me last year. It's held up great.
