Utah Lake Commission

Postby KyrkWright » Tue Mar 10, 2009 10:34 am

For those interested in keeping up with the news on Utah lake, this was in the Daily Herald online today: http://www.heraldextra.com/content/view/302343/

It also has a link to the web site for this organization http://www.utahlakecommission.org/index.html

Looks like there will be a public hearing on March 26 in Provo to go over this master plan they mention in the article. I haven't looked at all of the things on the site yet but thought I would put this out there for us to be aware of.

I thought the carp issue is already in the book to be taking care of.

Anyway, I think it would be a good idea if we can develop a windsurfing/kiteboarding beach where we can store our gears, even if we have to pay a fee. :)))

I think we should have one of our fearless lenders at this meeting. Who's going Rick or Josh? While your there try and get a northern lanuch on the lake, the wind is almost always better. Let me know if you guys are not going to go. Thanks

Here is an email I got from them. I would encourage everyone to attend that can make it.

The Utah Lake Commission in cooperation with the Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands has prepared a comprehensive management plan for Utah Lake and adjacent lands. The purpose of Awake Utah Lake is to create a vision and management plan for Utah Lake that will guide the Utah Lake Commission and its member agencies in future decisions affecting the lake. In an effort to consider all aspects of Utah Lake, the Plan incorporates elements for recreation, natural resources, land use and shoreline protection, and transportation. After months of planning and public input, they are ready to adopt the document for how future decisions regarding Utah Lake will be made.
Prior to its adoption, the Utah Lake Commission will be holding a public hearing to receive comments on the Final Draft Master Plan. It will be held during their regularly-scheduled meeting and will begin at 8:30 AM on Thursday, March 26, 2009 in the Ballroom of the Historic Utah County Courthouse located at 51 South University Avenue, Provo.
The plan, appendices and maps are available on the Utah Lake Commission website at http://www.utahlakecommission.org . Additional information about Utah Lake can be found at http://www.ffsl.utah.gov/sovlands/utahlake.php .
For more information about Utah Lake Master Plan, contact Reed Price, Executive Director of the Utah Lake Commission, 51 South University Ave, Suite 109, Provo, UT, 84601, phone (801) 851-2900, or email at rprice@utahlakecommission.org .
