Rush Lake Fence-revisited 2009

Postby Marty Lowe » Wed Apr 29, 2009 12:35 pm

At the UWA meetings, we usualy touch on our major kiting spots some.
I will be unable to be at this years meeting,
Unfortunatly I'll be packing for a Friday AM departure for a little kite vacation ;))

So, I did my part and revisited Rush Randy this week,
Basically he told me we are good to go on his property,
he has not heard from the cattle ranchers that lease his land,
about any need for us to help, labor, or $$$ wise with fencing.
He told me that he would contact me if there was a need to help with any fencing.
Like we have offered in the past.

I asked him if he sold some water rights for the water ski park out there,
thinking that may be where some of the water went.
He said no.
He is keeping his water rights, and would never sell them.
Ranchers/farmers realize thier water rights are worth more in future,
than any farming/ranching they can do. IMHO

Randy is very much in favor of recreational uses on his land.
I asked him, just in passing if there may be a future for some crazy idea
about working the land and water to try to make better recreation with Rush, for UWA.
I told him about the growth in utah of the kiters, and how many windsurfers used to use Rush.
Of course $$ would be involved, like a use fee.
but the idea has been planted, We'll see where it goes.

Also Dan Pope from KSL was in my store yesterday,
I invited him to check out our forum.
He was very interested in our micro forcasting that take place here.
I asked him to join in our weather discussion anytime.
He had some good ideas, and I hope he will join in.
He sounded interested in learning snowkiting, once he found out
it can be done on skiis and not just snowboard.
