Minersville Reservoir and State Park?

Postby Jason Klein » Fri Sep 11, 2009 8:52 am

Located about 8 miles West of Beaver. Anyone ever been/kited/windsurfed there? based on the satellite pic, it looks about the size of the portion of DC that is NE of island beach and looks like a pretty good launch.

I'm asking because it looks like there will be pretty strong wind SW of here on sunday. Yuba will probably be pretty good (high teens-20)in the afternoon, but a little further SW, basically right at this minersville res, the wind should be low-mid 20's dawn til dusk.

Thinking about camping there sat night after SSB. Any comments appreciated.

Never sailed there myself, but years ago the Utah Summer Games used it for the windsurfing competition.

Not sure is this is a fair report, and, It's been quite a few years ago, but I did WS there one weekend, and it was ok, and I did get rides. But as I remember, the wind, was kind of swirly/gusty. If I remember correctly, the south wind kind of comes off of the hill, so kind of on an off. My guess is that you will find much cleaner wind at Yuba. If you go though...update us all on the conditions and camping. Good Luck wind seeker.

I have sailed at Grantsville several times on a southwest flow. It is great....
