Best recall.. act fast

Postby windzup » Mon Oct 26, 2009 1:38 pm

Just saw this, received a Twitter from the Kiteboarder mag... I know there are a few best users in the state, so thought I would pass this along. This may not affect you as it looks like it pertains to only a few sizes of one model.

Apparently it is a recall, for Nemesis kites sold before Oct 15 this year.... but act fast as their 'exceptional customer service' will only last till November 15th. After that, they assume you like flying a defective kite and you are out of luck. Sounds just like their money back guarantee...(they will give you up to $500 which can only be used as credit towards more of their gear) Got to read between the lines when dealing with corporate kiters.

So if you have a faulty kite you have about 20 days left to take them up on their warranty.

Hope no one in Utah has to deal with this issue... if you do I hope our local rep can pull some strings and extend a longer more legally accepted warranty period. At least they are admitting that it is faulty. :oo

Here's what was quoted from the MFG: http://ow.ly/wzHh
"In our ongoing effort to provide exceptional products and exceptional service at exceptional prices, Best Kiteboarding is notifying all dealers and customers of this issue. While it is impossible for us to determine which specific kites are affected, we are offering all customers the opportunity to return their Nemesis NXG for a new replacement kite if they feel that they have an affected version.

We ask that all customers who wish to order a replacement contact the retailer from which they purchased their kite prior to November 15th, 2009. After this date we will assume that any remaining customers are satisfied with the performance of their kites and do not wish to replace them under this offer."

I call BS on such a short recall... what about kites sitting on shelves that won't be sold for the next few months??? Poor guy may walk into a shop, buy a kite and be SOL if its defective. When Ozone found out that our bar supplier (the only single item not sewn or built in house by Ozone personnel) had sent a few faulty bar ends into the mix, we could not determine what models may have been affected.... So Ozone recalled every bar, replaced every one at our cost, and have warranted every affected model up to today, over two full years after... now that's what I call over the top exceptional service.

Buyer Beware, some people talk about it while others work hard to deliver.... Don't believe the hype, read between the lines.

Hi everyone. I just want to make sure no one is mislead by any posting on
this site. As most of you probably know, Best is its own distributor and
has direct relationships with retail shops in 100 countries around the
world. Our announcement about the Nemesis NXG was to inform all people who
have already purchased an affected Nemesis. Meanwhile, we are working
directly with each of our retail shops to replace their existing inventory
of all affected kites. Finally, if anyone ever buys a kite from Best that
they are not entirely happy with, we always take care of them no matter
what. There's no BS and no text between the lines. Just pure dedication to
doing the right thing and keeping kiting as fun, safe and positive as it can
be!

I hope no one is mislead, but the info I posted did come from best, so who knows.

I'm glad you chimed in to let everyone locally know about the warranty, apparently that is a priority for best, especially since they are offering such a short warranty period. That short time frame is total BS tho... as I know from real world experience that complete customer satisfaction can take up to a couple of years as not everyone reads forums or websites daily. Someone may not know they have a faulty product until they have the opportunity to use that size kite in real world conditions.

I stand corrected, as it appears best has changed from its original warranty return jargon slightly... (good to see cause it was very misleading to tell customers its a money back guarantee, when it truly was not)... Good news is there is one now, Congratulations on that!

And you are right, nothing between the lines... just a lot of them! Here are various links for best customers to follow. I am not a lawyer and don't have time to read through all the exceptions that apply to the 30 day warranty that only covers online direct sales, but here you go.

I'm glad you are standing up for the right thing Jake, since it appears from bests statement that they will not.

Windzup... I'm out of here
