snow shoes?

What do you use for hiking back to the road/car when the wind dies or you have a gear malfunction? Are there snowshoes designed for snowboard boots, or is that not an issue. The price range varies greatly, should I just be looking for the smallest that are in my weight range? Are there special backpacks for this type of gear, that is small and compact? Ski's are not an option for me.

Not sure about snow shoes, but if you really like the board you are using, look into
spliting your board fot those situations. I think the name of the company is Voile, that sells the
split convertion package.

I carry skins for my tele skis and collapable poles all made by Black Diamond. I put them all in a medium size camel back hydration pack. I also put a emergency kit in the pack with stuff to fix my gear and nutrion supplements and a foil blanket, and a compass. never know? it feels good to know if i have a problem it could save my life. now if i just had more time to kite.

I don't think snowboard boots would be a problem for snowshoes. I saw a lot of people snowshoe up to back country area and then snowboard down. You should take your boots to try it out though. Get the heavier rating could help.

You probably want the lightest shoe you can find since they will be on your back more than your feet. MSR's Lightning Ascent's are the best of the best. Snowboard boots aren't typically an issue.
