A 2-line 17M kite might work great on an ocean breeze or possibly on a really steady night at ULSSB, but at other Utah locations - I don't think so. I remember a few riders that used to ride pulley bars in Utah a number of years back, didn't last long as our winds are so gusty. It would be nice to ride unhooked with a 17M, but I suspect the opportunities would be far and few. Might as well just use a Zephr. If the wind is light and steady enough, unhook and give it a whirl.
I have an inflatable SUP that I bought from Jason. I was thinking that with my 21M Speed 3 that I could ride in wind as light as 5 mph. I don't know if it will be much fun, but the next time we are all standing around waiting for the wind to come up at Lincoln I will have to give it a try. Watching the video, I realize that my SUP is more like a tank, not very nimble.
