How about a long race.

Course Race:
Upwind - downwind
Barb Wire Beach to Sailboat Beach to Barb Wire.

Downwind Race:
Sailboat Beach to Barbwire.
Racers start once the course racers reach the top point.

???

Considering we haven't even had a true race in the history of the summer games, It may be a little zelous to try and ride from barb wire to sailboat beach? Plus if we are trying to have several events a long distance race will take most of the wind cycle (noon till 2 or 3 if we are lucky, on a hot summer day) and leave only time for the long distance race. Just my opinion.

The Utah Summer Games is a great way to showcase our sport. I for one, want more people to join our ranks. If the wind is good, spectators want to see one thing, Big Air. Tricks and free style riding is a close second. I think course racing is super fun, but boring to watch unless the spectators know the kiters or know the subtleties of our sport, or the big issue is how many KWA have a race board. If we promote this event we will have a great crowd lining Barbed Wire Beach feeling the stoke. I say no race. I propose a 20 min jam format. We can reach out to some kite companies for non local judges and it should be fun. What do you think?

Actually 2 of the 4 years we have had wind to race. 3 of the 4 for windsurfers.
If it happens in June the odds are better, if it gets postponed to the middle of July again, then the odds go down.

I know I will get blasted, but has anyone gained permission to advertise a event and more foot traffic at Barbed wire Beach? :)))

Yes, I have spoken with the lease holders. We just need to keep the beach trash free.
