5/20- DC 21-Mona 22-UL State Park

3 days of sailing in Utah is always good. I got to try out my new JP SX 106 all days, so I was smiling. Used a 6.5 at DC and got good rides. 6.2 at Mona, mostly underpowered, but still got good rides, lot's of good company! 5.4 at UL for about 40 minutes of planning, then a schlogg back in big swell, when it was over.

When Gunners and I arrived, even fat gear would not have worked. So while we were waiting for wind on the North jetty, we picked the safest looking launch on the north side and I did some gravel trasport, to try and improve the entry through the rocks. I just kept pulling it from the road and pouring it into the rocks to make a pathway. Kind of helped. It would take quite a bit to make it good. Anyway the wind finally came, with lots of whitecaps to follow. Enough to get us both out there. It was great fun while it lasted, with really smooth swell, and good wind.

We did stop and talk to one of the rangers, since Geneva rock was there in big dump trucks, piling gravel on the road. We asked if they could dump one down by our launch area, and the guy kind of laughed. Said that he would see what he could do, but that it usually took a bunch of meetings and paper work. He said "other people can do what ever they want down there, but that they could not do anything, to change what touched the water." So bring a bucket and start moving a bit of gravel each time we are there, and it might become a little more user friendly.

I did notice by the bathroom on south jetty, that they have many sandbags stacked to protect the bathroom from the possible flooding. Maybe they would let us move those after the flood season is over, to a couple of the launch areas on the north side. Yah right. Just some thoughts. It could be a really nice spot, with just a little bit of improvement.

Yeah, let's get dibs on those bags. It'll save them being transported elsewhere anyway.

I am of the opinion that we should each discreetly borrow one or two every session and strategically place them on the north jetty. They would make a great staircase - rio vista style.

Said association does accept donations, preferably bags, sand, and/or sandbags filled with sand.

That is funny... I am with you on the sandbag thing... Call Ty Hunter and we "sqeeky wheels" will get the grease!

They are constructing something pretty seriously over there! Let's talk to them about building a beach!
