Got to agree with Brad we have hashed this topic out before and the consensus was DCBB is not a good location to teach beginners unless it's assisted by a jet ski or support vehicle. I took lessons in the Gorge and to me the jet ski is the way to go. I was out in open water body dragging, relaunching and getting my first rides in a few hours. Standing in the weeds pinned up against the shore at DCBB has got to be a tough way to learn.

NO on more paths

I am not voting I am telling you all what the farmer who manages the hay told me the only rules he has about us using the field is ONE STAY ON THE PATH DO NOT MAKE ANYMORE PATHS!!! and TWO DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING IN THE FIELD Ie stakes that wreak his tractor etc...

WE are only aloud to have one path across the field this mean we must all go in and out of the fence in the same spot. He is already upset that we have cut the barbwire fence. He complained that the fence post was removed just a week ago when I was there wishing it was windy. We are very lucky that we get to use this spot. There is only one way in or out of the field once you are past the (cut hole in the) fence line you can do what ever the Fawk you want.

Every year we decide as a community weather or not people should be learning at DC according to the post from last year we decided no?.?.?.???

Every year people are still out learning at DC, every year there are students standing at the access spot cloggin the in and out.

Is the issue the in and out spot needs to be relocated? Or we need to relocate students standing at the in and out spot. I thought we argreed as a community how DC would be used for teaching, This included moving students from the in and out. Don you asked last year if you should be teaching there the community spoke.

I am not calling Don out here, I am stating that last year in the last post we decide students would not be at the in and out spot but moved off to the side. I however have seen students at the in and out spot several times this year. Anyone who is teaching out there is responsable for insuring they are not clogging the enterance with a lesson, this is the insturctors responsability...

The hard hitting answer would be we decide no one was teaching there anymore, but with such a shitty UT lake season and the issues we have had with ULLB we have all accepted Don teahing at BWB out of neccesaty. Don we as a community have been super kind toward you and your students, as the primary instructor out there please be kind to the community and free up the in and out point by moving off to the side and setting the example for others trying to help out friends at BWB etc, It will be much easier to inforce the policys we agreed apon last year, if the key players are demenstrating sound judgement.

Students are given plenty of room to learn out of courtesy. Lets please give the rest of thoose kiting there the courtesy of not having students at the in and out spot. It is tit for tat....I have had to change my point of sail, my in and out point for severl students this year, I do this with out complaint, Lets hope students are relocated with out complaint also.

The in and out flows fine with kiters that are experenced...this is not the problem. We have not had any issue there to date with excperenced kiters, It is after all a EXPERT kite launch we all made a sighn that reads as such based on the communiyts wishes....

Instructors please find a better spot to work on kite skills with your students. Don was good with moving Andy Blunt off to the side, lets insure this always happens.. There is a lot of beach there but only one, in and out. The in and out is not the spot to be practicing anything? If there is some random dude with a bro like the other day, politley ask them to move and tell them this is not the place to be working on kite skills.....I think the community spoke on wether or not it was willing to jeperdize BWB so a couple of people could learn there???

DO we need to re open this topic at the end of the water kite season? Or should we insure there are no students in the in out just like I thought we agreed would happen last time this topic came up?

Feel free to call or PM me with any questions, and or post all comments here or open a new thread, but I thought this is a topic that we have already discussed and set rules for...In order to operate as a community thoose rules and decissions must be follwed...

Well said, Billy
Thanks.

Good to know we can not modify the existing path,
Would it accomplish anything by making in and out paths
in the bushes west of the fence?

The answer is clear. I will stop teaching kiteboarding lessons at DCBB. Case closed.

Like I said we can do what ever the Fawk we want after the fence.

We just can not cut anymore holes in the fence (as I heard people discussing at the beach on sunday) or establish new location that will put any other trail then the current established trail across the field.

To the best of my knowledge we can do what ever we see fit after the fence. If we would like to cut seperete in and out points after the fence I think that should not be a problem, Several people have already "modifedy" bushes between the fence and water line. I wonder what would happen if the DNR saw this going down, but being that there is a tree house with zip lines around the corner I would imagain a little bit of bush trimming would not be that big of a deal.....

Our season is coming to a close and we will be faced with new growth and a new hay crop next year. It is important we do not disturb the hay crop. No one is harvesting the bushes...

Yes nobody is harvesting the bushes but I think we should be a little strategic with our pruning if we go this route. Altering wetland areas can be delicate politically and there are plenty of Plovers and other wildlife that need that shelter. We should probably be careful about having a huge impact by clearing all the bushes but some work in there shouldn't hurt. I was thinking of going in while the water is still "low" and do some work and maybe pick up some trash for good measure after work a few days this week if anyone wants to join me.
