Moving Home

Hey all,

I wanted to let all of you in the kiting/windsurfing community know that I have accepted a job in San Diego. I'll be packing up my kites and heading down there within the next two weeks. I grew up there and am excited to be going home and to be near family again. And the surfing won't be a bad thing either. I know that San Diego isn't the windiest place in the world. So I'm getting set up with big kites and big boards etc. And if I need to I can day trip to Orange County or down to Mexico.
It may seem odd to post this announcement on the forum. But in the eight months I've been kiting I have met some of the most genuinely great people in Utah. Along with wishing I had learned to kite earlier simply because it is so damn fun I have found myself disappointed that I hadn't met all of yoiu sooner than I did. Truly you are all quality people. I have commented more than once to Billy about how impressed I have been with all of your willingness to encourange, help, coach and drink a beer at the end of a session with the new guy. I've surfed my whole life and have seen territorial b.s. all over. I've seen nothing like that here. On the contrary I have received nothing but stoke from all of you every time I have geeked out at learning something new or bailing on a trick and coming up with a face full of snow or mud but a big smile none-the-less. Everyone has really been nothing short of terrific. Thank you.
At the risk of forgetting someone I do want to thank Jake Walker for the beginner lessons and Don Lossee for taking the hand-off and getting me to stay up-wind. Billy thanks for all the rides up to skyline and for answering my incessant questons about how to do this or that. Peter thanks for the stoke and the wildman videos. Kenny and Craig thanks for the forecasts and for being our gurus.
There are a lot of others I have laughed and learned from in the short time I've been kiing here. But to name everyone would take a long, long post.
So I'll leave it at a whole hearted thank you to everyone here at UWA. If you're ever in San Diego hit me up.

Andy you will be missed! I have never had a more eager, stoked-on-anything student in the 10 something years I have been teaching. The cool thing is now you get to go and share the stoke with a bunch more people! Keep in touch, come back for some winter snowkite trips, and hopefully I will see you out this weekend. That 3 feet of snow that the avalanche center is reporting cant melt by Sat!
