Once again, Craig nailed it. The wind started to build a little after 11 and initially was pretty sketchy. By noon, however, it was starting to fill in, and eventually it became quite steady even as clouds rolled in and the sky over Wallsburg got progressively blacker. Then suddenly at a little after 4 the wind shifted abruptly to the SE and started gusting into the 30s and 40s (peak 46) flipping at least one trampoline in Charleston. Fortunately for me, I was off the water before the shift. Billy and several other kiters also took advantage of some very decent wind.

I had just a friggin GREAT time out there from about 1215 - 415 on the Zephyr. I'm a noodle right now. We pushed it well into the dark clouds for sure.

I had my kite rolled up because I didn't want to bag it right away, afraid that the moisture from my wetsuit would mess it up, as I turned to walk toward the kite after changing into dry clothes, the SE hit and my kite rolled all the way into Deer Creek Res. I ran like hell and chased it down in knee/waist deep water, and then got to walk into a brutal headwind back to the car with my bunched up mess of a kite. Andy Blunt was waiting for me with an interested look on his face.

I would happily do it all again tomorrow
