Does anybody know if Amy (is that the right spelling?) made it back ok? Sorry we had to leave before that came to some resolution but my ride had to get home.
If you are reading this Amy I had a thought about what might have helped in that light wind situation. Was your stopper ball all the way out? Sometimes when trying to relaunch in light wind we tend to think, "well I am supposed to just pull on one steering line and the kite should pivot and up it goes," but that doesn't always apply. Remember that your front/inside lines are also called the 'fly" lines and they need tension to get the kite up. This is why I kept suggesting to reach over the bar and grab the spindle while finessing one steering line. It seemed like every time your kite got close to relaunch it would flop back over suggesting there was not enough tension on the fly lines. If your stopper ball was too far in, even just a little bit, this might not have allowed enough tension on the fly lines (even if you didn't have the bar in your hands) to get the kite up in light winds.
Just a thought, hope you are ok.
