The Core is Back For More. 2nd half Gorge 2012

Postby Craig Goudie » Tue Oct 16, 2012 11:20 am

Though not quite as windy as the 1st half, the 2nd 1/2 delivered plenty of warm sailing late into the season, with
core performers Darren, Jim, Stuart, Gunars, Rick H. Sarah, and Linda. The season went late, with mid 70's air temps
clear into October. I probably averaged 4.7 for the second half, with numerous days on 5.5, but my memory
is pegged to a 3.7 day sharing the water with The Rock Star and a greatly reduced crowd on an early October
Westerly, with solid, long period, 6-8 foot swell, at the Hatckery none the less. How often do you get to do that
in a short sleeve wetsuit? You'd think we'd be sailing Easterlies, but my final rides last week were on a
gusty 4.7 Westerly, with some interesting board cam material suited to this years Gorge video.
Oct 15th saw me headed West toward PDX into a gray and rainy sky, with a tear in my eye, because the wind
much like Elvis, has left the building.
