12/19 Kenny's Where to Ride

Yesterday's storm was disappointing as only 3" or so of snow was deposited across the higher elevations in the past 24 hours along the Wasatch Front instead of the forecasted 12 - 18. It appears that Skyline did better if the Mammoth Snotel is any indicator.

The wind should be good today at Skyline and Strawberry today with wind in the mid to upper-teens or greater at both locations. Skyline will have fewer obstacles. Strawberry still has plenty of pitfalls (open streams, open water, and sagebrush traps) to hang you up, so if you go be careful. There is also a good chance that the wind will diminish late in the afternoon, so if you are planning an afterwork session you may get skunked. Plus the sun is down by then anyway this time of year.

Thursday is promising light SE winds at Skyline. PowMow is shaping up to have wind in the low-teens.

Friday is looking like low to mid-teens at Skyline and PowMow.

P.S. Do we have anyone kiting at PowMow? I have only seen one posting this year in the wind log. It makes me wonder if I should bother if nobody is going there.

P.S.S. I appreciate follow-up replys when you have additional information regarding weather or surface conditions that benefit the group.

I've never been to PowMow but really would like to try it up there. Is it true that you have to pay $20 to kite? How do you get there once you arrive at the mountain, and where do you pay?
