4/14 Skyline 7m

Postby Mark Johnson » Sun Apr 14, 2013 7:29 pm

More wind than I expected. When we got there a couple from Montana was out on 13 and 14m kites and then came in as the wind picked up. I pumped the 7m and Sal on the 9.5m. The 7m worked good, and at the tops of the ridges was lit up. I tried a few jumps but never felt comfortable with the small kite so I focused on speed runs. On the west ridge the snow was nice and smooth with no tracks. Tried to get back to the bowls on the south end but there were a few gust that scared the sheeot out of me. Found a spot down the west ridge that lined up great for speed. Here is the data from my phone gps. My other gps showed 53 mph as my max speed.
This is the fastest speed I have recorded so far.

That was one of the most fun day freeriding I've have had at Skyline this season. The snow is going to be good for at least couple more weeks or even way into May!
