Finally, some wind at DC that was not associated with a thunderhead!! Seemed REALLY gusty in Charleston, but, hey, these are desperate times. Didn't look much better when I arrived at the beach at about 4:30 - dead, flat calm punctuated by brief, sharp gusts into the low twenties. Still pretty funky by the time I was ready to sail (about 5) but then (miracle of miracles) it filled in and delivered about a half dozen full width, round-trip planers - white knucklers, actually, with the setup I was using. Then the wind came to its senses, remembered were we were, and got funky again.
