Not great by any stretch of the imagination, but it had its moments. Took some encouragement from the sight of a kite in the air and a few whitecaps as I drove down to IB. The wind seemed to be dying by the time I got there, so my very biggest gear seemed like the call. Barely enough wind for a beach start as I launched, but after a few minutes of gust and lulls, it finally filled in a bit, and I did get a few planing rides out and back. The wind started fading after about 45 min, but the itch had been scratch, at least a little. Numerous boats dragging water weenies. One guy, alone in his boat, was facing to the rear as he shot video of the rider on the float he was towing.

Was laughing the appropriate reaction to this? That's what I did. I was the kiter. I was out from 12:30 to 1:45 and it was pretty darn good.
