Reading the weather predictions at 7am left me shaking my head. I am not sure they had any idea what this front would do. Sprinkling when I pulled out of the driveway and rain/snow showers streaming down the Stansbury’s when I arrived. Clouds continued to mess things up all morning. And it seemed cold all day, still in the 50’s when I left. Wind came from every angle from SE to W. Still, Mike and I stuck with it and got a lot of sailing. Mike was on 5.7/109L and I used the 7.0 in the morning and the 6.0 after lunch. I had to stay on the bigger 2 boards to stay afloat in the frequent lulls. Tail walking one minute, schlogging the next. Headed straight across the lake one minute, sailing parallel to the west shore the next. By the time I quit a 3:00 I had notched lots of screaming reaches across the lake and felt pretty good about the day. Screaming straight down the shore on flatwater was cool. It took every bit of skill from windsurfing and my Hobiecat days to adjust to the wild switches in wind direction and wind speed which also left me feeling pretty good. After last evenings wild sesh at UL it felt like one of those Gorge sequences where I sail a wild sesh at Rowena into the evening then wind up at the Hatchery at 8:00 the next morning wondering why my body is slow starting.

Well, at least it sounds as though it was better at Grants than at DC. Scattered 7M gusts punctuating prolonged lulls. Definitely a big board day (as usual).
