Big crowd tonight - Vern, Jon, Jeff, Doug, Marty, Ralph, Dave, Mike M, and Billy. Wind was light and consistent. I started out on my Silver Arrow, I had good power, but it was not steering right. I then rigged a 16 and was perfectly powered, but I wanted more, so I rigged a 20M. Pretty silly of me to rig 3 kites in one evening! Guess I have been spoiled riding extra powered the last few sessions. I think everyone else had a good time because they spent their time riding instead of rigging.

The days are getting shorter and colder. Hopefully, we will get some good strong wind days this coming month.[/list]

P.S. last night was great! i've still got to get my kiteboarding "steeze" dialed in. if any of you have any suggestions, i sure would apprecaite them. kenny yelling at me from the water to keep my front leg straight was a great thing and i think i got the hang of it more by the end of the session, but was still not completely riding upwind at will like i was hoping i could. billy was saying i wasn't dropping my shoulders and bringing my hips up towards the bar. i think correcting that helped a little. i'm having a problem with edging though. i feel like when i really start edging to go upwind, my back leg starts to slide out. any good way to correct that?

We'll it's a good thing half the group was at Lincoln last night because we had 15 kites out. 9 at Lincoln, 15 at ssb = 24 kiters total. Dimitri- If you couldn't see us then you are definately sailing one batten short of a full sail. Jake, Jesse, Jason, Spencer, Hedquist+brother+friend, Stokes, McCarthy+ friend Brian, Sal, Dean, and those 2 Ozone paraglider guys we've seen at Lincoln. Lots of fun to be had. Everyone riding the flat water inlet.

Check out the forum http://www.kiteforum.com. Do a search and you will find all the information you could ever ask for concerning proper body position and edging. However, the best thing to do while you are Billy are taking turns is to watch some other experienced riders. You will notice a couple things: 1. They are more relaxed. 2. They are not using all their strength to edge and go upwind. They are letting the power of the kite do all the work. You don't have to be strong to go upwind, it is more about proper body position and kite control. If your kite is underpowered, you will not go upwind no matter how hard you edge the board. For me personally, I find it is easier to ride a larger kite that is slightly depowered that I can "park" and go upwind than to ride a kite that I have to sine up and down to generate enough power.

Hope that helps, just think it is going to be so much easier to go upwind on the snow! You won't even think about it on the white stuff.

That jerk. That was my idea. Dean and Arpi both have ridden out to that little island upwind of Lincoln to my knowledge. Matt Davis and Charles have rode from Provo to SSB. We then all went into mud lake and that's when Matt almost spent the night on the floating dock. Ya'll remember that story I'm sure? In the spirit of Arnaud De Rosnay, I plan on doing a downwinder from AF or Lindon to SSB. And for the grand adventure from Saratoga to lincoln. Any takers??
