9/1/25 G-ville 7.6 Mistral 258 - mysterioso North breezes

At the risk of hogging the busy Wind Log, I thought this is worth reporting:

Intrigued by the G-ville wind record of Sunday, which showed breezes of 10-11 gusting to 15+, I went there to take a look. Most of the Labor Day campers and fisher folk were wrapping it up or had left, so not busy at all. But it was breezy! Wind 11, gusting to 17 at both G-ville South and the UWA G-ville. Probably 9 gusting to 13 down on the water, which is indeed DOWN, but not empty yet. Still a lake of sorts. Water temp great! Got out there and sailed for about 2 hours on tacks from the NW corner to the SE corner since the wind veered more easterly the further S you went. Seemed to come perpendicular to the dam nearly everywhere, which is weirdly onshore, but totally a nice reach for our little lake. A few paddle boarders floating around, but that was it. Got a few gusts, learned how to use the daggerboard (new gasket works!) and mast track again and even got in the straps twice! OK, they were just the upwind straps, but like Craig also says, if you get in the straps, it counts! Top speed of 11.5 mph! May have to dig out the old Sailworks NX 9.5...?

Big (7.0?) wingers would have gotten a few rides or more if they could stay up on foil, don't know.

As I write this at 3:00 Tuesday, it's blowing 11, gusting to 18. Upper air readings at 6:00 AM were single digits up to 14,000 feet. Go figure.
