Pineview Ice Kiting

Postby lesvierra » Fri Dec 29, 2006 10:29 pm

Pineview is almost ready for another season of snowkiting. It is solid, just add snow and there you go.

The next few days should bring the typical morning breeze over the spillway toward ogden. With the smoothe ice, it would make for an opportunity for ice kiting. I'd be all over it, except I loaned out my trainer kite, and my 10m frenzy would provide more excitement than I'm ready for. Sure would like to hear about one of you guys mach10'n it back and forth on skates.

ice condtions- Ice Windsailing

Postby mike rossberg » Sat Dec 30, 2006 12:39 am

is the whole lake frozen? and do you know how thick the ice is. It sounds like is could be perfect for Ice Sailing. I have Ice board that I mount a windsurfing sail to. Have you seen fishermen on the ice?

Thanks,

Mike-

Mike,

The whole lake is frozen. I've seen ice fisherman near where we kite by the spillway for at least a week. Also, kids have been ice skating on the east side of the lake. I dont know how thick the ice is, so I'd be careful if riding the whole lake. The ice has been adjusting as shown by fracture and refreeze lines. If you bring your rig out, let me know, I'd like to take pictures.
