DC speed session

Postby Mike Hill » Fri Feb 09, 2007 12:10 am

No fancy stuff today just SPEED. Almost had to put on the NASA suit. About filled the Kimbies. Windsurfed DC for too manyyears and never went as fast across the lake as today. Hit the Lake at 11:30 until 2:00 when things started to back off. Not as winding as Tues. but much faster condtions. The 5M Frenzy pulled through again. The Instinct has been called a gust muncher but the Frenzy proved itself again. Even had a couple Bald Eagles cruising the lake for lunch. WE NEED MORE SNOW.

DC Speed Session

Mike,
Must have just missed you and the wind. I arrived about 2:00 and not much happening. Looked at Lake surface and I can see why you went fast, looked like a skating rink. Even some water on top. Where did you kite? We windsurfed on the ice one year with blades on snow boards. I think Demetri made them. Very FAST and HARD landings after a wipeout. Needed full hockey gear. I'm still getting used to cold(?) again, after 4wks in Kenya. Lions, tigers, monkeys and KITES

The Bridge

Postby Mike Hill » Fri Feb 09, 2007 9:09 am

Put in at the old Charleston boat camp. You are right. The serface on the rest of the lake is melting to glare ice. I think today the same will happen at the bridge. There was about an inch of very edgeable crust there. Even there the river is larger and melting more of the ice. Without more new snow I think it'll be over soon.
