Thanks to the knowledge and dedicated time of Josh Gubler we now have this official UWA Windtalker... At this point it is costing us NOTHING! Yeah, Gubler is my new hero too...

It is extremely simple to use... Once you learn the format... Speak clearly... If you find it having trouble recognizing what you're saying, make sure your speaker phone or background noise or breathing isn't causing uninterpretable noise.

Three first menu options-

Windtalker: Gives a list of weather stations that you can say outloud and it will tell you what the last wind reading and direction was... Might see if we can have it give the last three readings in the future.

Listen: You can listen to messages left by people who have gone to specific sites to sail or kite.

Record: You record your name and sailing site and then give a brief but pertinent report of the weather, other sails/kites, etc. that you see at the site. Please avoid redundancy (echoing other messages). It will be very helpful if you give the TIME of your recording. Recordings are deleted daily, automatically .

The Voice message board could very useful if it's an onsite report. One report can save somebody a lot of trouble.

It's just a regular Washington state phone number, so the only charge would be long distance by your service provider. Most cell phone packages have free long distance. Sorry I couldn't find a local/800 number.

As always, if you run into issues using the hotline, let me know so I can fix them.
