Ozone Skyline Base Camp

Postby Jon Manwaring » Mon Dec 10, 2007 11:15 am

Brain and Heather organized and successfully pulled off a fabulous kiting extravaganza!!. Clinics every morning, for an hour or two, covering, wind prediction, kite design, ski touring on kites, back country safety, and many more kite specific topics were presented by the Experts. Can you imagine crossing Anatrica on skiis powered by kites, Skiing UP the Fjords in Greenland, kiting high plataues in Packistan, Snowkiting in Patagonia?
We were exposed to this and MORE by those that do it on a routine basis.
They even managed to get 3-4 four feet of Utah Pow at Skyline. Friday was basically at White out. Several of us got in a little survival kiting, Sat provided a rare treat of East winds letting us track the Pow on the leeward side of the Skyline Drive ridge. and Sunday again was light. Food in the tent was great and the STOKE of all involved added to the success of the event. Even though it was geared more to Ozone dealers and riders ALL were welcomed. I only wish more "locals" would have attented. PLAN on it next year you won't be disappointed. Jon Mzee :D

I only went for Sunday but it was still worth the drive from Ogden. Great event and it is good to just talk to everyone who attended. The winds were light but I was still able to get to the top of Bosco with my 10m Frenzy.

Thanks to all those that came and supported the Snowkite Summit, its the people that make this all happen. And there was an amazingly diverse group of people involved, with a huge stoke for snowkiting. I am grateful to everyone that made the weekend a fun success.

PS. THERE IS SNOW NOW, so we'll see you out there soon!
