7/11-7/12 Talamone, Italy

Had a work trip to Italy and was able to get a couple of days of kiting in at Talamone. Pretty cool spot in southern Tuscany on the mediterranean. I was amazed how big the sport is over there. There were between 50-75 kiters and 30-40 wind surfers both days there so you had to have your head on swivel. Wind was nice and consistent and was fully powered on a 12m. I didn't have room to bring my gear so I rented a RRD kite and board. First time using the brand but was really impressed with how the kite performed. It was a huge camping area and most of the kiters were staying next to the beach in their vans or RV's. If anyone heads to Italy, I would highly recommend this place.

Looks great, thanks for posting. How much was it to rent a kite?

It was a little steep for 1 day 80 euros but was a better deal for multiple days. 2 days was 120 and then 3 was 140. Wind was good all day so easy to get 5-6 hours of riding in.

Brian,

Thanks for the post. I am headed to Italy again next year. I went with my wife this summer and I had a chance to ride in Salerno. It was a boat launch and cost me 120 euro for kite rental and boat all day. Not cheap, but memorable. I am glad to hear about Talamone. I will have to check it out when I go back.
