Hi all, Thanks for your help ahead of time. We are planning a trip to Utah in the middle of May. I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on where to go? We would like to kiteboard and mountain bike. I would prefer if we could do this from the same spot or really close. List of wants= 1. good mountain biking( I was thinking St. George) 2. Good beginner level kiteboard beach (we will have a least 1 noobie) 3. Warmish weather (for may) 4. Spot to camp or affordable house to rent 5. fun town close by. The only person in Utah that I was able to talk to told me that East canyon would be a good spot???

All off the water kite spots are listed under Local Sites & maps at the header of this website. Utah has tons of mountain biking all over the state. As well as most resorts offer lift serviced down hill riding. You decide weather you want to stay at kite spot and drive mountain biking or vise versa tons of camping everywhere, paid camping at the lincoln beach site and deer creek for kiting, also moab is mountainbike meca and will be warm in may

Your best bet may be southern Utah around the St. George area. Warm weather in May, great mountain biking terrain, and Sand Hollow Res. has camping and good beach access (it is a nice area) and is close to town. Moab is great for mountain biking, but there is not much water around there for kiting. Northern Utah is still in a bit of a transition phase with snow still in the higher mountains and wet suits required on the lakes. The temps are usually pleasant, but the threat of a strong cold front still exists. Utah Lake Lincoln Beach is great for new kiters and there should be plenty of people around there if there is any wind. Look at the local sites page, and maybe one of our southern Utah members will chime in with more ideas. Good luck and enjoy your visit to our great state.

Also wanted to add a thought to check out www.utahmountainbiking.com. they have awesome descriptions of areas for biking as well as trail and difficulty descriptions. If you are going to be in the salt lake/provo area I could direct you to some fun trails as well, though iin may, some of the high mountain goodness is still a little snowy. Good luck with your trip.

In May, I would go to Saint George. Most of the good mountain trails near Salt Lake will still be under snow in May. In fact, you easily could go snowkiting in May at Skyline.

Saint George has Sand Hollow for kiteboarding and you can drive down to Lake Mead or Lake Mojave for kiteboarding as well. The epic trail near Saint George is Gooseberry Mesa. There are plenty of other excellent rides. Temps should be nice that time of year and there are plenty of places to camp.

If you decide to come to St George I would be happy to show you the trails and and the best launch areas. Sand Hollow has a great camp ground so you could kite close to home. you would be close to a few of my favorite trails as well. I have a golf tournament over the weekend of the 14th and wouldn't be back until that Sunday but could meet up any other time. 435-313-1058.
